First Home, Next Chapter: Planning for Retirement in Cobb County

A home purchase can be about much more than the home itself.
My buyer is under contract on a condo near the Chattahoochee River in Marietta, Georgia. It’s their first home purchase, but the decision reaches well beyond closing day - it is for their next chapter: planning for retirement in Cobb County, Georgia.
We talked about a home that could work for them as they grow older.
We considered their love of walking and hiking in state and national parks, and what it would mean to live near the Chattahoochee. Family wasn't too far away either.
We also looked ahead to the potential property tax benefit available to qualifying Cobb County homeowners at age 62, which is a considerable selling point when your property taxes gets reduced by 70% - when you stop paying the school portion of the property tax bill.
Those considerations shaped the search. The question wasn’t simply, “Is this a nice condo?” It was, “Will this place support the life you want to build from here?”
I describe itmore as "life-stage decision-making" or "life design". It relates to many aspects of real estate.
That’s the work I love most: helping people make real estate decisions with a clear view of the transition behind them and the future ahead.
We’ve completed due diligence and are scheduled to close October 15.
Behind every transaction is a transition.
